2001 Banquet and General Meeting: If you don't know how good it was - you missed it!!!
...this year's was the best ever! Yes, I know I say that every year! It took place on Friday, September 21, 7-10pm at the Amber Lounge, Labatt Breweries. Seating was limited, but we managed to squeeze in 110 players, umpires and guests.
Alibi Roadhouse provided the food. There was lots of variety and almost enough of each variety - we ran a little short of those 2 ballplayers' favorites - chicken wings and pizza! A big thanks to Dan and his kitchen staff at Alibi for preparing such a great feast.
And, of course, there was plenty of that other ballplayers' favorite - Labatt's products - all courtesy of Richard Culley and Labatt's Brewery. Thanks again, Rich! We even imported some wine (thanks to Jackie and Tony Kramberger) for the occasion.
And, by popular demand (requests from past banquets), there were lots of door prizes. We had loads of stuff from our sponsors (Alibi and Source), Labatt's merchandise, books, hats, and lots of other great stuff. The 2002 LMBL Paid Registration was won by Joe Massa - now he has to play again next year! The trip for 2 to the 2001 World Series Opening Game was won by Vern Eldridge - just kidding, but wouldn't that be a neat prize for next year?
In the spirit of the Year of the Volunteer and LMBL's 10th-Year of play, a Commemorative hat was presented to current and past Executives, volunteers, Reliable players, dedicated fans - we had to keep making up new categories until we ran out of hats. We gave out 24 in all. See the Volunteer page for some thoughts on the benefits of getting involved.
Only because I have way too much time on my hands, I put together a slide show. The graphics are a direct result of my not knowing anything about photography. If you have Microsoft Powerpoint 97 (or an equivalent graphics viewer), click here for a few pictures and words from the 2001 season. If you want to speed up the show, hit the PgUp key.
...And yes - we elected a new Executive for 2002! Welcome, Randy - and thanks again for volunteering! And welcome back to the rest of you guys.
